Designed right after the second wave of Covid, this vibrant 4BHK apartment breaks away from the “grey times” to create a cheerful, self-sustaining home full of energy and colour. Crafted for a small family of three, two dogs, and visiting parents, the layout smartly integrates a living room with balcony, master suite, daughter’s bedroom, gym, steam room, utility area, and two fully-equipped home offices for personal use.

The living room sets the tone with bold colour blocking, using walls and floors as a creative canvas. A bright swing connects the seating to the dining and bar area, while the striking red oval bar adds a strong design statement.

The master bedroom blends soft beige with botanical greens, featuring a hand-polished louvered door and a seamless green micro-concrete bathroom. The daughter’s room transforms into a playful fantasy zone with a bunk-bed setting, customised wallpaper, and a dreamy palette.

Her home office doubles as a mini library with a custom blue terrazzo work desk and lift mechanism for flexible seating. His home office/guest room embraces muted grey and brown tones to create a calming, functional den.

A vibrant blue kitchen, a bold pink gym with an integrated steam room, and pet-friendly spaces bring together comfort, functionality, and joyful design.

This home is a celebration of colour, emotion, and family—a truly unGREY apartment designed to uplift everyday living.

Between the Lines

Q1. What inspired the concept of the “unGREY” apartment?
The home was designed right after the second wave of Covid, a time when the world felt emotionally muted. The idea was to break away from the grey — to create a home that radiates hope, positivity, and personality through bold colour, texture, and light.

Q2. How does colour influence the design narrative?
Colour here isn’t decorative — it’s emotional architecture. Every shade defines an energy:

  • Vibrant blue in the kitchen sparks activity and freshness.

  • Soft beige and green in the master suite calm the senses.

  • Bright pink and red in the gym and bar inject energy.
The palette is designed to lift moods and reflect individuality.

Q3. What makes the layout unique for a compact 4BHK?
The plan balances function and freedom — integrating a living room with balcony, two home offices, a gym with steam room, pet-friendly zones, and private bedrooms — all within an efficient, connected flow ideal for modern family life.

Q4. How does the living area set the tone for the home?
The living room is the visual and emotional anchor — defined by bold colour blocking and graphic flooring. A bright swing links the seating, dining, and bar, while the red oval bar acts as a statement of confidence and celebration.

Q5. How is the balance between vibrancy and calm achieved?
Through smart zoning and tonal balance. Common areas feature expressive colour and pattern, while the bedrooms shift to softer palettes and tactile materials — offering rest and contrast. This rhythm ensures the home feels joyful, not overwhelming.

Q6. What defines the master and daughter’s bedrooms?

  • The master suite blends botanical greens with beige warmth, featuring a louvered door and a micro-concrete green bathroom for a spa-like feel.

  • The daughter’s room is a fantasy zone with a bunk bed, custom wallpaper, and dreamy pastel hues, designed for play and imagination.

Q7. How were the dual home offices designed for individuality?
Each workspace reflects its user:

  • Her office doubles as a mini library with a blue terrazzo desk and a lift mechanism for flexible seating.

  • His office/guest room uses muted greys and browns, creating a serene, focused den that adapts for guests when needed.

Q8. How does the home address wellness and lifestyle?
A vibrant pink gym with an integrated steam room, pet-friendly circulation, and ample natural light encourage movement and mindfulness. The design supports both body and emotional well-being.

Q9. What role does craftsmanship play in tying the design together?
From the hand-polished louvered doors to the custom terrazzo desk and crafted wallpaper, every element is designed, detailed, and finished with intent — reinforcing ZERO9’s philosophy that joy lies in precision and personalisation.

Q10. In one line, how would you describe the unGREY apartment?
A vibrant, self-sustaining home born from resilience — where colour, comfort, and creativity converge to celebrate the joy of everyday living.
