Pearl White — 5000 Sq Ft Luxury Circular Floor Plan Apartment | Chembur, Mumbai | ZERO9
An urban sanctuary built around rare views, Indian art, and the quiet luxury of space.
As featured in Elle Decor India.
THE BRIEF
The client wanted a home that felt like a retreat from the city while being completely immersed in it. A 5000 sq ft canvas with an exclusive circular floor plan — rare in Mumbai's residential landscape — and panoramic views of both the city skyline and the mountains beyond. The brief was serene, considered, and uncompromising. Pearl White became our most quietly ambitious project.
THE ENTRY
A reeded wood door with brass louvre inserts and a brass pull handle announces the home with warmth and restraint. The private lobby opens inward — a sculptural black arched console, a faceted octagonal mirror, white lilies — setting the tone for everything that follows. Calm, unhurried, and beautifully considered.
THE FAMILY LIVING ROOM
The family living room centres on one of the most extraordinary pieces in the home — a hand-tufted carpet in New Zealand wool and banana silk, woven with a Thota Vaikuntam artwork as its design. It functions simultaneously as floor art, cultural statement, and the emotional anchor of the room. A concealed projector setup, panoramic city views, a hidden bar unit, and boucle seating complete the space. The flooring throughout is Nexion — a material choice that runs as a quiet thread of luxury through the entire apartment.
THE MAIN LIVING ROOM
The main living room is where the circular floor plan reveals its full power. Fluid Nexion marble flooring with brass inlays guides you through the space toward rare mountain views — a genuine luxury in the heart of Mumbai. A Vysali Kalidindi artwork anchors the white oak panelled wall. Dual seating arrangements in boucle and ribbed fabrics, Jaipur Rugs silk rugs, walnut bowl coffee tables, and sheer linen curtains filtering soft natural light create a room that rewards every hour spent in it. The large balcony opens the space further, pulling the mountain view in completely.
THE DINING ROOM
A round marble dining table with a sculptural black pedestal base, black Windsor chairs, a white oak sideboard with ceramic vessels, and ceramic disc wall art. Elegant without effort — and positioned to maintain visual flow through the circular plan.
THE POWDER BATHROOMS
Two powder rooms, two distinct personalities. The first is stone and geometry — dramatic grey stone wall tiles, a round ribbed vessel sink, black and white geometric mosaic floor tiles, clean brass hardware. The second is botanical and sensory — floor-to-ceiling tropical wallpaper, a wide vessel sink, a large brass-framed mirror, a brass wall sconce, and warm timber venetian blinds. A spa experience in a small footprint. Bathroom fittings throughout the home are by Kohler.
THE TEMPLE CORNER
A semi-precious stone inlay temple corner — crafted by a local artisan — brings spiritual grounding to the home. An arched white stone niche with hand-painted floral inlay, a Krishna idol, and brass diyas set against a ribbed glass partition with warm oak frame. Quiet, intentional, and complete.
THE LIBRARY
Floor-to-ceiling white oak open shelving, a Hands carpet underfoot, a tan leather lounge chair, a sage ceramic side table, and a full-height window framing rare panoramic mountain views. A room designed for silence and thought.
THE GUEST BEDROOMS
Two guest bedrooms, each distinct. One with a full-size bed, an oval botanical artwork, a large tropical bird of paradise plant, and floor-to-ceiling city views. The other with a convertible navy velvet sofa, abstract blue and white artwork, and a gold trumpet side table — flexible for guests or family use.
THE MASTER SUITE
The master suite is three rooms in one. The bedroom features a Flou Resyde motorised reclining bed, brass swing-arm sconces, terracotta linen bedding, a horizontal ribbed wall artwork in warm oak frame, and a private balcony filtering natural light. The lounge — a curved white boucle sofa, round marble coffee table, vibrant abstract artwork, and an indoor palm — sits beside it as a private retreat within the retreat. The walk-in wardrobe with floor-to-ceiling grey cabinetry, brass handles, and a dark glass island counter connects directly to the all-white master bathroom: full-height white marble cladding, a wide vessel sink, brass Kohler fittings, a rounded brass-framed mirror, and a dedicated Kohler steam and rain shower room.
THE KITCHEN
Stone-finish base cabinetry with black edge pulls, greige upper cabinets, grey quartz countertops, open corner shelving, and panoramic Mumbai city views through floor-to-ceiling windows. A kitchen that works hard and photographs beautifully.
