Molten High – Residential Building Inspired by Pottery Heritage
Located in a hot and dry Tier-2 town of India, Molten High pays homage to the city’s rich heritage, where pottery was once a thriving traditional profession. The design concept draws inspiration from the fluidity of clay during the molding process, capturing the moment it deforms before being baked into its final artistic expression.
The residential building reflects this cultural narrative with a sculptural approach, combining modern urban living with contextual design. A striking parametric façade wraps the southwest staircase, acting as an external skin that filters sunlight and channels natural ventilation into the core. This feature becomes a dramatic contrast to the otherwise simple and refined array of windows and stacked balconies, balancing functionality with visual character.
The façade not only protects the interiors from harsh sunlight in the hot-dry climate but also creates a dynamic play of light and shadows throughout the day, enhancing the building’s architectural language. Designed to celebrate local heritage while meeting contemporary urban needs, Molten High stands as a modern landmark rooted in cultural identity.
